Abstract

Background. Efficiency standards and practices have changed greatly over time. Likewise with the regulations that we are all expected to know and obey. The evolution of the rules parallels the evolution of the sport itself. The latest IPSI competition regulations released in 2022 brought significant changes to the technical and tactical aspects of the sport of Pencak Silat. These changes include the addition of new techniques, adjustments to competition rules, and improvements to athlete safety. It is hoped that this change in regulations can improve the performance of Indonesian athletes or pencak silat. However, there has been no research that comprehensively examines the effect of the latest IPSI regulations on athlete performance.

Therefore, this study aims to examine the influence of the latest IPSI competition regulations on the performance of Indonesian pencak silat athletes. It is hoped that this research can provide valuable information for the development of Pencak silat sports in Indonesia.

 

Method. This research utilizes a qualitative case study approach to explore the impact of the latest IPSI competition regulations in 2022 on the performance of pencak silat athletes. By gathering athletes' views directly, this approach allows for an in-depth understanding of the effects of the new regulations. The use of an online questionnaire with specially designed questions helps in understanding athletes' personal experiences of the new rules. Data collected via Google Forms is used to analyze patterns, themes, and a deeper understanding of how these rules directly impact athlete performance. By examining narratives and direct experiences from athletes, this research can provide a comprehensive picture of rule changes and their impact on the performance of pencak silat athletes.

 

Data Analysis. The qualitative case study method in journal analysis explores the views of pencak silat athletes regarding the latest IPSI competition regulations (2022) via an online form. The questions in the Google form are designed to summarize athletes' personal experiences with the new regulations. This collection of opinions will highlight its impact on athlete performance. Qualitative data from the Google form will be analyzed in depth, identifying patterns, similarities, and differences in athletes' perceptions of the implications of the latest regulations, providing a deep understanding of the impact of these new regulations on their performance.

 

Results. This research analyzes the impact of the latest IPSI competition regulations (2022) on the performance of pencak silat athletes using the qualitative case study method. Utilizing an online form, athletes provided their personal views on these changes, highlighting their impact on competition and training. This research was in-depth through a qualitative approach, allowing for a deeper understanding of how these new regulations impact athlete strategy, technique, and preparedness. The results are expected to provide valuable insight into responding and adapting to changes in regulations in the sport of Pencak silat.
